Arrowhead District Roundtable Meetings

Roundtable began with the story of King Arthur. Adults throughout the District and beyond come together the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7-9 p.m. at:
Our Lady of Loretto Church, 9003 S Kostner Ave, Hometown, IL 60456. Since COVID-19, we have been holding virtual Roundtables via Zoom. Sign up for our mailing list to get the latest Zoom information each month.

Open to all Parents and Scouters

Don't be a stranger and come to our District Roundtable Meetings. We share best practices, training, and event information for our scouting families. It is not only important that all units have at least one representative attend but that person must share the information back with their unit.

Why you should attend

Roundtable is the best way to advocate for your son or daughter; find out what's happening in the council and district, and is a great way to learn new and easier ways of improving the program we provide to the youths in our units!
The National website (www.scouting.org) states… ‘Scouting roundtables are a form of supplemental training for volunteers held monthly on a district basis The objective of roundtables is to give these leaders program ideas; information on policy, events, and training opportunities; and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders.
The roundtable commissioner and staff demonstrate elements of a model meeting that leaders may use as a pattern for their own unit meetings. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts.

Provide a Trading Post (scout shop dilivery)
Post the main session on our Facebook page

Every Youth Deserves a Trained Leader! Most Scouter training is available online, and everything starts with Youth Protection. Go to your My.scouting.org, sign in and add the training program you wish to work on. When completed, print your certificate and turn into your leader.

REMEMBER YOUR MEMBER ID and LOG IN INFORMATION.

BALOO training is required for all Cub Scout camping trips. While some training is mandatory to be hands-on outdoors, the "book training" can be completed online.
Eagle Scout Projects—Two-Deep Adult Supervision Requirement For most Eagle Scout projects, a certain amount of physical work is provided by those assisting the Eagle Scout. Boy Scouts of America is constantly reviewing and providing assessments to ensure that all Scouting activities are conducted safely for the youth members. Recently, the youth protection policy has been revised and becomes effective October 1, 2018. Beginning on that date, adult supervision on “all Scouting activities,” which includes Eagle Scout projects, must consist of no less than two Youth protection trained, BSA-registered adults—both at least 21 years of age. The Boy Scouts of America is primarily a volunteer organization. Early in it's history leaders realized the booming program would take some professional help. Being THRIFTY scouting has operated as a lean non-profit movement, but does incur costs to provide; program, recordkeeping, supplies, facilities, camps, and professional help. There are many ways BSA funds programs. Arrowhead helps mitigate these costs in the following four ways.

Popcorn Sales

Scouts Sell Trail’s End Popcorn.

Popcorn sales have been a Scouting tradition, and they continue to be the main source of our fundraising dollars for our units. Selling popcorn can be a fun and rewarding experience that teaches lifelong lessons.

At the beginning of each Scouting year, families are provided literature on the Popcorn Program during the popcorn kickoff celebration. Selling popcorn not only helps our organization but it provides the Scouts with great skills in the way of salesmanship, networking, business, personal management, and community involvement. These skills lead to a sense of strong self-worth, leadership and a basic understanding of how money works.

We have a wide variety of popcorn from which to choose. From our popular Butter Microwave Popcorn to our limited edition tins, there are many options.

We know, however, that some people just can’t eat popcorn. For those folks who wish to support Scouts but don’t want the popcorn, you can buy popcorn that will be sent to our American Armed Forces to brighten their day!

Friends of Scouting (FOS)

Please plan a FOS presentation for your unit annually between December-March and make a pledge to support Scouting in our district. A strong Scouting program requires good outdoor experiences, trained leaders and financial resources to assure operations and camps continue to be the quality our youth deserve. Your unit support of FOS is part of making Scouting strong. When making your FOS pledge remember many companies have programs that will match donations to Scouting. Volunteer hours may also be recognized by employers for a matching gift.

Community Campaign

In addition to friends and families, companies in our district know the values of scouting help there business and communities. Many companies provide support to causes they or their employees believe in. Please help our districts efforts in identifying and contacting these companies. Their tax deductable donation improves our program and provides a valuable pool of responsible young adults to heir or mentor. HELP US HELP OUR SCOUTS. Forms are available for distribution.
